Booking
How do I book the NSW driver knowledge test?
Quick answer
Do you need to book the DKT in NSW?
It depends on which version you take. DKT online needs no booking: you enrol with a MyServiceNSW Account from 15 years and 11 months, do the course at home, then walk into a service centre once you are 16 to apply for your Ls. The in-person DKT must be booked through Service NSW, and you need to be 16 or older to sit it.

Common questions
- Can I just walk in to sit the DKT?
- Not for the in-person test, which needs a booking. Walking in without an appointment is for applying for your Ls after you pass DKT online.
- What ID do I need to enrol in DKT online?
- A NSW licence, Photo Card, registered vehicle or Service NSW customer number works. Otherwise you can use an Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate, certificate of registration by descent or ImmiCard.
- Can I switch between online and in-person?
- Yes, if you have not passed yet and are eligible for both. Cancel an in-person booking in time and you may get the fee back.
- How do I change an in-person booking?
- Service NSW lets you view, change or cancel a licence test booking online.
