Common questions

What is the NSW driver knowledge test?
It is the computer test of road rules and safe driving that you pass to get your learner licence in New South Wales. You can sit it in person at a service centre, or online as part of the DKT online course.
How many questions do I need to get right?
In the in-person test there are 45 questions in two sections. You need 12 of the 15 general knowledge questions and 29 of the 30 road safety questions, and you must pass both sections.
Is this practice test free?
Yes. The practice test on this site is free with no sign-up. The NSW Learner app is free to download, and Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks every topic, every question and unlimited mock exams.
Are these the real DKT questions?
No. Every question here was written by the NSW Learner team from the NSW road rules, mainly the Road Rules 2014 (NSW), and each explanation names the rule it comes from. The real test draws from its own bank, so learn the rule, not the wording.
Is NSW Learner connected to Service NSW?
No. NSW Learner is an independent study site and app, not affiliated with Transport for NSW or Service NSW. To book or sit the real test, go to Service NSW.
