What it means
What does the left turn on red permitted after stopping sign mean in NSW?
Black capitals fill a tall white plate in two blocks: LEFT TURN ON RED near the top, and PERMITTED AFTER STOPPING below. It sits at certain traffic lights. On a red you still stop at the line first. After that full stop you may turn left, but only once you have given way to vehicles coming from your right and to anyone walking across the road you are entering.
What to do
1
Stop fully at the line, even if the road looks empty.
2
Look right for traffic and check the crossing for pedestrians.
3
Turn left only when nobody needs to brake or wait for you.
