What it means
Our yellow diamond carries one word, CREST, in bold black capitals. It warns of the top of a hill where the road beyond drops out of sight. An oncoming car, a broken down vehicle or an animal could be just over the rise and you would not see it until late. On a narrow two way road the danger is greatest, because the other car may be near the middle too.
Slow down as you climb towards the top.
Keep well to the left of the road.
Never start an overtake that would carry you over the crest.
