What it means

Moving back left after passing on a fast road: what is the rule?

Three lanes run one way, with a KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING sign and a 100 km/h limit sign on the verge. The yellow car, out in the right lane, has just passed a white truck in the left lane. It signals left and its long yellow path sweeps back across the lanes to settle in front of the truck. A white car is coming along the middle lane behind.

What to do

  1. 1

Pass in the right lane at or under the limit.

  2. 2

Signal left and check your mirrors and blind spot once you are well clear.

  3. 3

Move back to the left lane and stay there until you next need to pass.
