The white B light lets buses go early; cars obey their own red light.
Road Rules 2014 (NSW) rule 56Asked in general knowledgeShown in one practice question
What it means
B light for buses: what is the rule?
A normal set of traffic lights shows red, and beside it a separate black panel glows with a white letter B. That B is a special signal for buses. It lets them move off before other traffic, often to pull out of a bus lane or stop ahead of the queue. For everyone else, including you, the red light still applies, so you stay behind the line.
What to do
1
Watch your own lights, not the B panel.
2
Expect a bus beside you to move off while you are still stopped.
3
Do not follow a bus through on a B light.
A practice question with this scene

Right. Not quite. The answer is A.
Special B lights let buses move ahead of other traffic, so the red light still applies to you.
