The white T light is for trams; cars follow their own signals.

What it means
T light for trams: what is the rule?
The drawing shows traffic lights on red with a second black panel beside them carrying a white letter T. You will see this where light rail runs on or across the road, as in parts of Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle. The T panel tells the tram driver when to go. It means nothing for a car, so your own red, yellow or green lamp is the only one to follow.
What to do
1
Follow the standard lights facing your lane.
2
Watch for a tram moving across or beside you while you wait.
3
Keep clear of tram tracks and tram lanes.
