STOP12

Road scene · Intersection scenes

Stopping for a crossing, then again at the stop line

Stopping for a pedestrian does not count; stop again at the stop line before you enter the intersection.

Road Rules 2014 (NSW) rule 67Asked in general knowledgeShown in one practice question

What it means

Stopping for a crossing, then again at the stop line: what is the rule?

The yellow car comes up to a zebra crossing just before an intersection, with a stop sign on the verge and a white stop line painted beyond the stripes. A person is walking across the zebra. Disc 1 beside the car marks its first stop, for the walker. Its yellow path then runs on to a yellow bar at the stop line, where disc 2 marks a second full stop.

What to do

  1. 1

Stop before the crossing and let the person reach the far side.

  2. 2

Move up to the stop line and come to a complete stop there.

  3. 3

Give way to traffic on the cross road, then go.
