Warning sign · Surface and hazards
Grip is poor here in the wet, so slow down and brake and steer gently.
What it means
Our raised yellow diamond shows a car seen from behind with two wavy skid tracks trailing from its wheels, and a yellow plate below reads WHEN WET. The plate narrows the warning: this stretch loses grip once the surface is damp. If it is raining, or just starting to, lower your speed before you reach it and keep every input smooth so the tyres can hold on.
Slow down before the stretch, not once you are on it.
Brake early and gently, well before bends.
Steer and accelerate smoothly so the tyres keep their grip.
