What it means
What does the give way sign above a railway crossing sign mean in NSW?
A small red bordered give way triangle sits at the top of a grey post, and below it a yellow diamond carries the crossed boards marked RAIL and CROSSING. Together they warn of a level crossing ahead. Some crossings have no lights or gates, so nothing may tell you a train is coming. Slow down as you get closer, look both ways along the line and listen.
What to do
1
Start slowing as soon as you pass the sign.
2
Look and listen for a train as you near the line.
3
At the crossing, give way to any train before you go over.
